By a 71-43 vote, a state House bill requires Science teachers to criticize evolution. The Senate passed a bill earlier that prohibited punishment of teachers who provide alternatives. The House version was proposed as an amendment in the Senate but failed. Gov. Charlie Crist on a visit to the House chambers was asked if he believed in evolution. “I believe in a lot of things,” Crist said. “No one has any record - no fossils have been found, no eyewitnesses have seen any species in transition from one to another,” said Alan Hayes, the bill sponsor. Apparently, some needs to take Hayes to a museum so he can see an actual fossil. Perhaps some also needs to explain to Hayes that evolution occurs over many generations and will not occur before the eyes like a cartoonish X-man mutation.
