Prosecutor General Ghorban Ali Dori Najafabadi said Western toys are “destructive culturally and a social danger.” Iran has been concerned with the issue as far back as 1996 when Barbie was considered a Trojan horse for Western values. In 2002, Iran introduced a more modest twin doll set, but it has not caught on. Najafabadi said Iranian children have been, “put at risk and caused irreparable damages.”Barbie, Spiderman, Harry Potter–it is all a bit too much for the conservative mullah’s of Iran.
