The Michigan Democratic Party is claiming that the proponents of a recall petition for Speaker Andy Dillon mislead voters. In an audio recording, one potential signer was told the petition was to prevent a gas tax increase. Although Dillon’s support of higher taxes is one of the reasons for the recall, no mention was made of recalling Dillon to the signer. Leon Drolet, a recall organizer did not feel there was a problem. He said, “The person circulating the petition has complete free-speech rights.” No need to let the truth get in the way of politics.
