Republican Senators Larry Craig and David Vitter, two of the more recent married Republican politicians to face sex scandals, are co-sponsoring the Marriage Protection Amendment. This bill would amend the Constitution to allow marriage only between a man and a woman.

 

Craig and Vitter are not paragons of virtue. Perhaps both men are trying to prove themselves to the world. But the world already knows them for what they are. Vitter believes in marriage as long as he can have a prostitute now and then. Craig believes in marriage as long as he can secretly find a male sex partner.
