Flipping The Bird Now Legal In New Jersey Town

Belmar, New Jersey, sometimes referred to as “Fort Lauderdale North” because of its rowdy reputation is giving up on its anti-partying restrictions. It is no longer illegal to give the finger and beer kegs are not required to be registered.

“I’m not sure anyone even knew that making obscene gesture was illegal. Right after we send out our tax bills, I tend to see a few,” said Mayor Ken Pringle.

The strict laws were enacted in the 1980’s and 90’s when wild parties turned the beach town upside down during the summer months.

The strict laws include when garbage can be place outside, zero tolerance to noise and even a prohibition leaving empty beer bottles on the porch overnight.

Pringle admitted many of the regulations were unconstitutional anyway.
