Lindsey Graham

Senator John McCain is currently on his two-country tour of Latin America with his two favorite Senators, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman. It is hard to know what to call this trip—fact-finding, diplomatic, press event or a summer vacation. Whatever it is, Barack Obama has one planned for the Middle East and Europe later in the summer. It looks like a foreign trip is going to be an obligatory victory lap for Presidential nominees from now on.

In Columbia, McCain was given the star treatment, as he should. He was placed in a small drug-interdiction boat for a tour around the Port of Cartagena. Lieberman and Graham were shunned to a slower boat with the press. The two boats coasted alongside each other until the McCain boat showed its horsepower and speed away.

As the boats separated Graham pointed to McCain’s boat and hollered, “Sink that boat! I could get the nomination if you sink that boat.”

Graham then stated the comment was not on the record.

A boat full of reporters and Graham wants the comment stricken. Sure, Senator, you can always trust the guy with the press badge.

One can be certain if it was not a Senator making that comment, the Secret Service would have jumped, pinned and cuffed the individul to the deck of the boat. Maybe Graham should just be lucky all he gets is some foolish press.
