Utah Lawmaker Resigns After Allegedly Bribing Opponent

Utah State Representative Mark Walker must have figured he was heading to defeat in the Republican Primary for state Treasurer. So what does a candidate who really wants the office to do? Bribe the opponent, of course.

Walker is alleged to have bribed state Deputy Treasurer Richard Ellis. It is claimed that Walker offered Ellis a big pay raise if he would quit the race.

Ellis stayed in, received the Republican nomination with 59% of the vote and reported it to investigators.

Walker has now resigned his seat in the state legislature but continues to deny that he did anything illegal.
