John McCain knows he has four houses and counting… In a Politico interview, McCain hesitated at how many houses he and his wife owned. McCain said, “I think — I’ll have my staff get to you. It’s condominiums where — I’ll have them get to you.” No need to, John, the fact-checking political site PolitiFact has determined that McCain and his wife own seven, including those troublesome condos he is unsure about.

Their main home is in Sedona, Arizona; a double-condo unit in Phoenix; another condo in Phoenix; a high-rise condo in Arlington, Virginia; another condo in La Jolla, California; and two beach-front condos in Coronado, California.

This is particularly relevant since McCain has tried to suggest Obama is an elitist. While that is probably true, McCain should not exclude himself. Both men are members of a highly elitist club called the United States Senate. Soon they will be members of an even more exclusive club — Presidential nominees of a major political party. However, when McCain said, albeit jokingly, it takes $5 million to be rich and then cannot remember how many houses he owns, then John McCain may be in a special class of an already elitist group.
