Republican Congressman Tom Feeney of Florida’s District 24 has a long campaign cut out for him this year. That is because Feeney is campaigning for two. He has his own reelection campaign to work on. In addition, Feeney has taken sides in the Democratic primary and is using his campaign resources to advocate for Democrat Clint Curtis.

Feeley beat Curtis in 2006 by a comfortable 58 to 42 percent. Curtis’ primary opponent is Suzanne Kosmas. Kosmas has been endorsed by the national Democratic Party and is well funded.

In a 30-second robo-call, the Feeney campaign has paid for thousands of calls to Democrats touting Curtis as “only Democrat taking on Tom Feeney that has consistently opposed the war in Iraq.”

Feeley tried this tactic before. In 2006, the Feeney campaign also did robo-calls on Curtis’ behalf. Then, immediately after Curtis won the primary, Feeney’s campaign blasted Curtis as the “craziest man in America.” If Feeney can persuade Democrats to support Curtis again, then expect the same switch in tactics by the Feeney campaign.
