Republican Candidate Arrested For Assault After Firing Handgun At Neighbor

John AlbersIt is probably safe to assume that Republican John Albers is pro-gun. He is a candidate for Kentucky’s District 35 state Senate seat currently held by Democrat Denise Angel. Albers revealed his pro-gun stance when he got into an argument with a neighbor. Albers accused the neighbor of taking Albers’ belongings. Albers grabbed his neighbor by the shirt and threatened to kill him. Then Albers went to his car, retrieved a handgun and fired a shot. Albers is now being held on a full cash bond of $10,000 for wanton endangerment, assault and menacing.

He was not available for comment.

Albers was also accused of accosting the same man on August 4. Albers allegedly demanded to know where his “breaker” was. The victim claims Albers grabbed him, injured his eye and threatened him with a handgun at that time also.

District 35 looks like it will remain safely in the Democratic column this year.
