Another Australian minister has denied stripping while intoxicated. Climate Change Minister Andrew McNamara has denied taking his shirt off in a restaurant at last year’s Christmas Party and twirling it above his head in traditional stripper fashion.
McNamara claimed he took his shirt off after he spilled wine on it, rinsed it and put a clean one on featuring a northern hairy-nosed wombat. He said nothing happened besides some clapping and wolf whistling.
“There was absolutely no singing, no dancing and no nuding it up at all,” McNamara said. “I have spilt wine down my shirt before and I will do it again.”
McNamara said that the wildest moment of the party held for his staff came when they donned “little party hats” earlier in the evening.
Apparently, McNamara must have washed the shirt in the men’s room of the restroom. That raises a few questions about his story. Most men would not take a dirty shirt off in the middle of a restaurant and carry it to the men’s room. Of course, if it was done in a mini-strip show…
McNamara is the third Australian politician to be embroiled in similar scandals this year. Last week, Police Minister Matt Brown resigned after admitting dancing on his office sofa in his underpants. Earlier in the year, Liberal Party leader Troy Buswell resigned after admitting he sniffed a female staffer’s chair.
If nothing else, these revelations prove that Australia is the place to party if your a politician.
