Former Republican Majority Leader Dick Armey is accusing Vice-President Dick Cheney of misleading him on the war in Iraq. Armey was a member of the House of Representatives at the time the Bush administration presented a resolution authorizing the invasion of Iraq.
Armey was on the fence regarding his vote. That was when Cheney persuaded him to cast a vote in favor of the invasion. In Armey’s words:
Did Dick Cheney … purposely tell me things he knew to be untrue? I seriously feel that may be the case. Had I known or believed then what I believe now, I would have publicly opposed the resolution right to the bitter end, and I believe I might have stopped it from happening.
