Interview With French Film Returns To Haunt Congressional Candidate

The past is coming back to haunt Democratic Congressional candidate Mary Jo Kilroy. Kilroy, running for a seat in Ohio, served as editor of the Columbus Free Press in the early 1990′s. Kilroy claims the Free Press was a community paper, her critics say it was socialist.

During her time as editor, she gave an interview for a French documentary described by its producer as “a sentimental journey and a survey of the history of the American radical left.”

On the film, Kilroy did not say anything controversial. “I think too often the left confines itself to a small number of people with signs and a couple of chants … We want to get that debate out of our own circles and open up more people’s minds and hearts to the possibilities of real change in this country.”

It is unlikely that her presence in a French film about the radical left will not improve her chances with moderate or independent voters.
