Utah’s polygamous communities have released a voter’s guide ranking candidates against the fundamentalist Mormon perspective. The guide lists 150 candidates and ballot issues from President to sheriff.

The guide asked questions that divided the responses into two areas: campaign ethics and equal civil rights. One of the questions it asked, “Should polygamous people have the same right as other Utah citizens to hold public offices?”

Some candidates refused to participate in the guide while others responded negatively.

The guide urged voters to turnout several high profile Utah officials who have been active in prosecuting the polygamous communities. Many candidates were not give a “yes” or “no” suggestion, just a ranking one to five on how favorable their answers were to the polygamous communities.

Neither John McCain nor Barack Obama responded to the questionnaires. However, Bob Barr did return it. Although he gave generally favorable responses, Barr did not get an endorsement.
