In a reliable indicator of the Presidential election, 125,000 Weekly Readers took part in a Presidential poll and gave Barack Obama a resounding 54.7% to 42.9% victory over John McCain. The other candidates grabbed 2.5%.
Obama received 420 electoral votes from 33 states. McCain picked up 17 states and 118 electoral votes.
Weekly Reader has predicted 12 of the last 13 elections. The sole exception was 1992 when it picked George H.W. Bush over Bill Clinton. The reason for that miss may have been because of methodology. Weekly Reader did not include Ross Perot, who received 20% of the vote.
