Candidate For RNC Chair Quit Whites Only Club 2 Months Ago

America elects its first African-American President and who puts his name forward to be the next Republican National Committee Chair?

None other than a South Carolina Republican who had been a 12-year member of the Forest Lake Club, a whites only club.

Katon Dawson is the South Carolina Republican Party chairman. Dawson resigned his membership in September with the Forest Lake Club after his name was publicized as a RNC chair candidate. He said he tried to change the whites only membership requirement in August when he read about it in the club deed.

“It is with only the best interests of our club’s proud tradition at heart that I inform you of my intent to work to change the club practice that would exclude membership for anyone based on any specific ethnicity,” wrote Dawson in a letter to the club.

Let me get this straight.

Dawson is a member of a whites only club for 12 years, and the month before he quits he finds out that only white people are in it. It didn’t cross his mind that the only black people he saw where the janitors and gardeners?

Yep, this is the guy the Republicans need to make them relevant for the twenty-first century.

Memo to Barack Obama: Black Presidents need not apply to Forest Lake Club.
