Obama Administration Problem: 290,000 Want 8,000 Jobs

Enthusiasm for the Obama administration has generated a record number of job applicants. Thus far, 290,000 people have applied for 8,000 jobs. Some estimate that the Obama administration may have 1 million official applicants by the time Barack Obama is inaugurated on January 20.

Let us put this in perspective.

When George Bush assumed office, he had 44,000 applicants. Bill Clinton had 125,000 apply for positions.

The Obama transition team is being bombarded with resumes on their BlackBerrys and by friends on their Facebook profiles. Some have removed their profiles to attain a lower visibility. Family and friends of the transition team members are also being overwhelmed. Yet if the application numbers now are any indication, it will only get worse.

  1. Workpost says:

There’s a lot more “work” than “jobs” these days.

America needs help and it’s going to be constant, steady employment for the next 4 years or so. Of course everyone wants to work for Obama.
