Police have arrested Incoming New York State Senator Hiram Monserrate after he allegedly slashed his girlfriend with a broken bottle.

Monserrate became enraged when he found another man’s business card in his girlfriend’s purse. Police say Monserrate broke a glass and slashed his girlfriend above the left eye. The injury required 20 stitches.

Monserrate claims that the injury occurred when he tripped, broke the glass and fell on his girlfriend.

Monserrate also claims that when she ran away and fell down the stairs, he cried out, “Why are you hitting yourself?”

Monserrate then drove her to a hospital 12 miles away outside the New York City limits, bypassing the one 5 blocks from his apartment.

Monserrate, girlfriend, Karla Giraldo, initially provided evidence to the police that she was assaulted. Since then, she has changed her story to match Monserrate’s version.

Monserrate, a Democrat, served 12 years in the NYPD before getting a psychological disability pension. He also has associations with prominent Scientologists.
