John McCain expressed that he is undecided who he may back for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012.
Speaking on ABC’s “This Week”, McCain refused to support his former running mate Sarah Palin. Even when he was specifically asked about her, McCain refused to commit or even lean.
“I can’t say something like that. We’ve got some great other young governors. I think you’re going to see the governors assume a greater leadership role in our Republican Party.”
McCain mentioned Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Utah Governor John Huntsman as possibilities.
Then the questions got good.
McCain was pressed on why he can’t promise support for the woman who, just months ago, he named as the second best person to lead the nation.
“Have no doubt of my admiration and respect for her and my view of her viability, but at this stage, again … my corpse is still warm, you know?” he replied.
That’s right, just six weeks ago, McCain touted Palin as ready for the Vice-Presidency and even the Presidency if needed. Now she is lumped with “some great other young governors.”
It sounds like John McCain might have a few doubts about his VP selection.

Why didn’t he choose Tim Pawlenty in the first place. I think I’d have more respect for him. He and Sarah were on a Fools Ship to Nowhere. I’m glad he took time to think about it and lick his wounds. He should be gracious to Obama with all the false attacks he made on him. Learned your lesson John? It’s not too late to grow up you know.
Pingback: McCain Refuses To Back Palin In 2012
If the Republicans are actually thinking of Palin as a contender in 2012, then it shows just how out of touch they really are. One of the reasons, out of thousands, that they did not win this year is because Palin was on the ticket. So…what are they thinking?…Palin in 2012? They realised last month that the American people are not happy with them. The deeply religous and deeply conservative wanted Palin. But that is not very big piece of the voting pie. Not big enough to win an election. So why would they consider Palin in 2012? She was a BIG reason they did not win this election. If they are going to put her name at the top of thier ticket, then why run at all???
