Psychiatrist Claims Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder

A psychiatrist has determined that liberalism is a mental disorder. Dr. Lyle Rossiter is the author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.”

And to think that in the last month a majority of Americans thought electing Barack Obama to replace George Bush was a return to sanity.

Rossiter claims that the liberalism of Obama and Hillary Clinton can only be understood as a mental disorder.

Worldnetdaily reported on Rossiter’s diagnosis:

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

  • creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
  • satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
  • augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
  • rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

If I were Dr. Rossiter, I would not expect the American Psychiatric Association to list liberalism as a mental disorder anytime soon, although this might work as a new political strategy for the conservative movement. If you can’t beat them at the polls, lock them up in padded rooms on election day. In that case, why even worry about elections or the First Amendment, for that matter.

    What would Dr. Rossiter’s fans think of his sideline job providing expert courtroom testimony to help murderers? In an appeal case for a convicted murderer who placed three standing people in nooses then fired a shotgun in each one’s face, Rossiter argued that the killer got an unfair trial because the defendent had a “thought disorder” that prevented him from communicating with his attorneys.

    If this is the kind of psychiatric analysis Rossiter brings to the public discourse, then I believe it speaks for itself — Rossiter’s expertise is useless except to make money for himself.
