After heading south to campaign for Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss, Sarah Palin is finding some criticism from Alaskans.
She was gone from Alaska for two months during the Presidential campaign. She returned to Alaska, traveled to Georgia to campaign for Saxby Chambliss, and now has moved onto a governor’s conference in Philadelphia.
For some in Alaska, Palin’s traveling is wearing thin.
“My main complaint is the governor is not here, she’s not doing her job, she’s not doing what we paid her for, she’s not living up to her promise to be our governor,” said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Patti Higgins.
With the collapse in oil prices, the once flush Alaskan budget no longer has the money it once had. The TransCanada pipeline has a few remaining problems and the Troopergate controversy remains unresolved as well.
Not everyone agrees Palin is not taking care of business. Predictably, it is a political issue as the Republicans defend Palin and the Democrats criticize her.
“I think that the Democrats are seizing upon what is a normal lack of external activity in state government to suggest the governor is not working,” Palin spokesman Bill McAllister said.
Still, for a Governor who once had approval ratings in the 80′s, the criticism is a clear reminder that Palin’s ambition has eliminated forever the bipartisanship she once espoused in Alaska.
