Wisconsin Government Website Tries To Pass Minneapolis Skyline As State Capitol’s

The new campaign finance information website for Wisconsin has an impressive looking homepage and sharp photo of the Minneapolis skyline.

That is Minneapolis as in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The page does have a picture of the State Capitol Building in Madison.

The Journal-Sentinel quoted one bemused lawmaker:

State Sen. Jeff Plale noticed the geography gaffe after looking at the site created by the Government Accountability Board. “I’m looking at that thinking, ‘What the heck?’” the South Milwaukee Democrat said. “I don’t think a lot of Minnesota legislators care about our Government Accountability Board.”

The Connecticut-based PCC Group is developing the site to track campaign fundraising and spending. Their spokesman said the Minneapolis image was just a placeholder until a copyright-free image of the Madison skyline could be found.

Nice try at wiping the egg of their face, but Wikipedia has a nice, copyright-free picture of the Madison skyline right here.

Wisconsin authorities said they would ask that a suitable Wisconsin skyline be placed on the website.

Steve Filmanowicz, a former aide to Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist, said, “The state doesn’t need to outsource their skyline.”
