Batman Edging Closer To Race For New Mexico Governor

batmanforeverdvdActor Val Kilmer, best known for his role as Batman, is edging closer towards a run for governor of New Mexico. Current Governor Bill Richardson will be term limited out of office in 2011.

Last year, Kilmer, with the backing of Richardson, expressed interest in the position. Kilmer recently reaffirmed his interest. He claimed that Democratic insiders are pushing him to run.

There may be some Democrats who are advocating his election, but others are not likely to be as endeared of his candidacy. Kilmer backed Ralph Nader this last election, not Barack Obama. The other problem is that until this last election, Kilmer had yet to vote in a New Mexico election since moving there in 1992.

Yet, Kilmer made it clear that he was giving a “strong maybe” for a governor’s race.

“I love my state and I love the people,” Kilmer said.

But not enough to be a regular voter.
