bushspeechPresident George Bush gave his final policy speech yesterday. He focused on education, especially the importance of the “No Child Left Behind” law.

Bush noted that this was his last speech.  ”What makes it interesting is that it’s the same subject of my first policy address as President of the United States, which is education and education reform.”

Even on his last speech, Bush hit a couple of his awkward phrases that pop-up in his speeches.

Bush called Laura an “awesome wife” and the Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings, his “buddy.”

“I’m proud to be here with my buddy. I guess it’s okay to call the Secretary of Education here ‘buddy.’ That means friend,” Bush explained.

However, few heard Bush’ speech. The major networks declined to cover it. As Bush spoke, Barack Obama upstaged the President with a speech of his own on the economy.
