It was recently discovered that the Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator for Ohio’s Department of Transportation was suspended for passing along sexist and racist jokes.
Robert Habern’s job is to make sure that private vendors comply with federal and state anti-discrimination laws.
Habern was suspended in October for 10 days for emailing jokes about men kissing, a racial joke and a caricature of Barack Obama.
A year ago, Habern was given a verbal reprimand for “joking about giving jobs to women with large breasts.”
In 2004, Habern was suspended for 20 days “for viewing inappropriate material online [on the job], including sexually explicit Web sites.”
Despite the repeated violations, DOT officials said they would keep Habern at his job.
How can that be possible?…Maybe his supervisors like his jokes.
