Uruguay’s Interior Minister, Daisy Tourne, is under fire for posting a nude photo of herself in her Facebook profile.
Apparently, it is not much of a nude photo. It shows only Tourne’s hands and face underneath running water with the caption “there’s nothing more natural than a woman in the shower.”
That was too much for some politicians.
The Telegraph covered the story first published in El Pais.
“I think it’s in very bad taste that the minister exposes herself so intimately,” former Vice President Luis Hierro Lopez told El Pais. “Ministers have to be more austere, modest – above all the Minister of the Interior,” who commands the police force.
Tourne responded that she was only washing off sand from the beach and the photo was not for public viewing.
Not everyone was criticizing Tourne. Victor Semproni, a lawmaker in her own party said, “I’m thinking about taking a photo of myself in the shower, but a full body shot.”
News reports say the photo was published on El Pais’ website, but I could not locate it or anything through five pages of Googling. On Facebook, groups in support of Tourne have popped up. Including one with a half-body picture of a man in the shower.
