Zurich, Switzerland is cracking down on how its municipal employees look and smell.
Body Odor and Bad Breath are now officially banned.
If only it was so easy.
All the municipal employees were given a 4-page list on “professional presentation.” Here are a few of the other restrictions.
- Don’t bring too many personal belongings to work
- No skirts with patterns
- Don’t use too much makeup
- No extravagantly manicured nails
- No gym shoes
- Don’t show too much stomach (I assume that means bare stomach and not girth)
- Don’t show too much bare back
- No disordered beards
- No short trousers
- Be discreet about where water bottles and cups are placed
Employee response was predictable:
“Everyone knows that you have to respect certain codes, but staff didn’t appreciate being lumped together as if they all didn’t take care of themselves,”
