Illinois Senator Roland Burris has submitted an affidavit correcting last month’s testimony before the Illinois House committee investigating Rod Blagojevich.
This is the third time Burris has changed his testimony.
Burris said that Rod Blagojevich’s brother, Robert, tried to solicit a $10,000 campaign donation from him. Burris said that he did not give the money and expressed his displeasure with the request.
In his testimony before the committee, Burris said that he had not been approached by any of Blagojevich’s people for money. While his new version corrects that, he tries to avert responsibility or the misrepresentation.
“There were several facts that I was not given the opportunity to make during my testimony,” Burris explained in the February 5 affidavit.
While surprised at Burris’ affidavit, state House members did not think any action would be taken against him.
