A new Harris Poll lists Barack Obama, Jesus, Martin Luther King, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush as the most often mentioned American heroes.
For those who might be offended that Obama placed ahead of Jesus, consider that God came in eleventh. That was one spot ahead of Hillary Clinton. She beat out her husband, Bill, who placed fifteenth. Also making the list was Sarah Palin in twenty-first place.
Of the top ten, six are deceased and five are Presidents.
Here is a complete breakdown of the survey.

I hate to point this out, but last I checked Jesus wasn’t an ‘american’. If he existed he was Middle Eastern.
And how can “God” be considered the same? america really needs to get over itself.
I find this funny that it took America this long to come to its senses on the whole “religion” thing. All this hatred and vitriol being spewed for anyone the slightest bit different from people who profess to live a “Christ-like” life. Last I looked, Christ never said a group of people were evil, or going to burn in hell. Christ was, if anything, a hippy. I find it funny that here are all these people cherry picking their faith with words from the Old Testament when according to Christians Christ came to fulfill the old Law and to make a new one. So why are they still following these few obscure verses from the Old Testament? If you’re going to throw up the one verse in Leviticus about homos and say homosexuality is wrong then you should also follow the verse in the Old Testament that says if a man and wife lies in the same bed together while she is on her rag then they should be stoned to death! Or if your child back talks you then you should bash its head in with a stone. Even Christ said that it’s better to stab your eyes out than to lust with them! I see none of these perfect Christians standing up to follow any of these rules. But yet they all get their knickers in a twist just because two people want to spend their lives together in a legally recognized union. Christianity is hypocrisy, plain and simple. I’m glad America seems to be waking up but sad it took them this long.
