Anti-Barbie Politician “Fool Of The Week”

jeffeldridgefoolNo one is against doing something to improve young girls’ self-esteem, but ban Barbie?

West Virginia Delegate Jeff Eldridge had that plan last week and for plain stupidity, it earns him “Fool of the Week.”

If Barbie was the problem, sure ban her and her perfectly formed friends, especially Ken – I really dislike Ken.

Seriously, how could a law like this work? Why pick Barbie from all the other dolls young girls collect? It would take a new layer of bureaucracy to determine which good-looking dolls might be harmful to young minds.

Then there would be families crossing the state line to Ohio or Virginia and bringing back contraband Barbies. I suppose that eventually someone would be arrested for possessing a Barbie.

Surely, Eldridge knew this was not going to pass. He just wanted the publicity to make a point. Unfortunately, the point he made has made him an object of ridicule throughout the internet.

This is a perfect example of a poorly thought-out bill.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Eldridge’s next election.
