Hungary Sets Up Government Program To Educate Sex Workers

sexworkersThe Hungarian government has allocated almost $250,000 for the education of sex workers. The education is to inform the sex workers of legal regulations and help them avoid falling victim to human trafficking.

Since 1999, prostitution has been legal in Hungary. Local jurisdictions are supposed to mark out zones where the profession may operate. However, many local communities have not done that. With 20,000 sex workers, many must have taken up their profession in foreign lands.

The new program is to develop legal aid and protections for those who venture abroad.
