monicaconyersAfter pleading guilty to bribery, Monica Conyers resigned her city council position in Detroit. However, she refuses to change the name of her call-in television show, “Ask the Councilwoman with Monica Conyers.”

“I love this show. A lot of people don’t want me to do my show, but I enjoy it. … Who knows? Maybe I’ll get a national sitcom,” Conyers said.

A sitcom it might be because it seems there is a lot of comedy in this situation. Although, it is not a laughing matter that Conyers pleaded guilty to accepting two $3,000 payments to switch her vote in a $1.2 billion sludge-recycling contract.

Conyers, the wife of Congressman John Conyers, has not said much about her conviction, except for these comments on her radio show.

“My biggest problem is helping people. This whole situation has gotten to the point where I don’t want to help people. That’s a sad situation. … If they’re going to turn around and lie about people, if they’re going to lie on me, I don’t want to help people.”

That’s right. Her biggest problem is “helping people,” especially those businessmen involved in the sludge deal.

If Sarah Palin can resign in mid-term because it is best for Alaska, then Monica Conyers can accept six grand in bribes because she is “helping people.”

Then there is this interview with Fox 2 news. First, Conyers accuses the reporter of drunk driving, then he reports that she once accused him of taking bribes to do a story. He denies it all.
