- “National Sovereignty Day” in Iraq had at least 34 people killed in a Kirkuk car bombing.
- The North Korean ship heading for Myanmar and followed by a United States destroyer has changed course and appears headed back towards North Korea.
- The Iranian government maintained checkpoints throughout Tehran, effectively preventing any further protests from occurring. They are now employing women police officers, “Sisters of Zeynab,” to assault Iranian women. There are reports that six Mousavi supporters have been hanged.
- Norm Coleman still has the option of challenging Al Franken’s election to the Senate in federal court.
- A boat carrying former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and Nobel laureate Mairead Maguire was intercepted by the Israeli navy as it crossed into Gazan waters.
- California is prepared to begin issuing IOU’s. Because a new fiscal year started today, and the Legislature and Governor couldn’t agree on a budget the $24 billion deficit just increased another $3 billion.

- Exiled Honduran President Manuel Zelaya plans on flying back to his country, accompanied by the Presidents of Argentina and Ecuador.
- The Organization of American States is giving the leaders of the Honduran coup three days to reconsider their actions.
- President Robert Mugabe wants to bring back the old Zimbabwean dollar. It last traded at $7.6 billion to one U.S. dollar.
- Congressman Jose Serrano introduced legislation repealing the 22nd Amendment. That one limits the President to two terms.
