Australian MP Defends “Power Nap”

baileynapAustralian MP Fran Bailey wants the world to understand true power. In her case, she likes to exert it through a nap.

Caught dozing off at a NATO conference in Scotland, Bailey bristled at the attention her snooze was getting.

“To have a power nap and have all this attention, I think it’s quite ridiculous,” Bailey said.

Bailey emphasized that she had attended all the meetings and worked very hard. Perhaps that is true, but not while she was napping.

A supportive colleague suggested that the photo may have happened at the “second when you shut your eyes.”

Of course, everyone collapses sideways into their chair while blinking.

Looks like a snooze to me, power nap or not.

This is not the first time that Bailey exercised the power nap either.

In Parliament last year, a fellow MP from an opposing party asked for someone to get Bailey a “pillow.”

Another MP interjected, “She is constantly asleep!”

Bailey, who won reelection in 2007 by 12 votes, announced last month that she would not run for another term. She gave no explanation how she would keep up on her sleep once she left office.
