  • A federal judge ruled that South Carolina cannot issue license plates with a cross and the words, “I Believe.”
  • The Mormon Church is backing legislation in Salt Lake City banning discrimination against gays in housing and unemployment.
  • The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences is holding its first conference on alien life. One of the spiritual issues to grapple is if other forms of intelligent life are discovered, how does that square with the belief that God created man in his image.
  • Ichiro Ozawa, Secretary General of Japan’s Democratic Party, called Christianity “exclusive and self-righteous.” He then called Islam “exclusive” but less so than Christianity. Ozawa finished up his insights by calling Western Society “stuck in a dead end.”
  • Virginia Rep. Jim Moran wants to ban erectile dysfunction commercials from prime time.
  • The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is honoring astronaut Buzz Aldrin as “Honorary Consul General to the Moon from Los Angeles County.”
