- A former Parliament House barmaid claimed that she had an affair with South Australian Premier Mike Rann. Rann called the claim “wildly sensational.” In September, the estranged husband of the woman assaulted Rann with a rolled-up magazine.
- Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert expressed his disapproval with trying 9/11 terrorists in New York City because it might invite further terrorism. Gohmert then said a new terror attack could create jobs by bringing billions in federal funds into the city, but he quickly called that idea “insane.”

- A little out of the timeline, but 103 years ago in Kansas City same sex marriage was legal, at least for women. The only charge that could be brought against a married couple was a misdemeanor charge if one was dressed as a man.

- A Dutch psychiatric prison is prepared to provide prostitutes to its inmates.
- The U.S. Postmaster General has reversed his decision and “Dear Santa” letters will again flow to and from from the North Pole.
- Now that the Large Hadron Collider is ready to restart, the end of the world may be near — and I thought they were going to wait until 2012 to start it up. More likely, as one researcher put it, “Something might come through” the extradimensional door that the LHC opens or we might send something through it. The LHC is not scheduled to operate until December 3, so get your Christmas shopping done early.
