Former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton is this week’s “Fool of the Week.”
Jetton was arrested for an S&M encounter that went awry in November when the woman he allegedly had sex with reported being severely beaten. The police report stated that she had been beaten from the jaw to the ankle for hours.
The woman stated that she twice rebuffed Jetton’s sexual advances while they watched a football game, then a movie. After drinking some wine, she passed out. It is her contention that the wine was drugged. When she awoke, Jetton had her restrained with a leather belt and was beating her.
The woman said that the next morning Jetton told her she should have used the safe word “green balloons” if she wanted the beatings to stop. The woman claims that a safe word was never discussed.
Okay, so the charges against Jetton are just alleged. He may even be found innocent, but nothing Jetton has said or done suggests that he was not there or engaging in S&M. After his arrest, Jetton immediately closed down his political consulting firm and said that he wants to spend more time with his family.
Jetton denies the woman’s version of the story. His attorney stated that Jetton “is confident that when the facts of this case are heard, he will be found innocent.” It is significant that Jetton has not denied the lurid S&M details. He is facing second degree assault charges.
Although Jetton’s version of the events has not been released, it appears the story of the woman’s contact with Jetton that day from the phone number on her iPhone to the wine bottles in her home collaborate Jetton was there.
While in the Missouri House, Jetton opposed legalizing gay sex because he considered it deviant. He was known as a strong supporter of family values. That makes the S&M encounter a prime example of hypocrisy.
