- A California city councilman was defeated for reelection. He has now collected over $11,000 in unemployment. A bill has been introduced in the state legislature to prohibit defeated politicians from collecting unemployment.

- 70% of Arkansas’ voters do not think that a governor should have the power to reduce a felon’s sentence. This follows the fallout from former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s release of police-killer Maurice Clemmons nine years ago.
- A Swiss politician has backtracked on his call for a ban on Jewish and Muslim-only cemeteries.
- There are 104,100 private contractors in Afghanistan – a euphemism for mercenaries. That exceeds the 98,000 American soldiers who will be there once the Obama administration’s surge is completed.
