Congressman Broun Compares Health Care Reform To “Great War Of Yankee Aggression”

It is one thing for Georgia Rep. Paul Broun to oppose health care reform; it is another thing when he tries to remake history.

“If Obamacare passes, that free insurance card that’s in people’s pockets is going to be as worthless as a Confederate dollar after the War Between the States — the Great War of Yankee Aggression,” Broun said.

“The Great War of Yankee Aggression?”

Broun needs to check his history books. It was the southern states that seceded. The first shots of the Civil War were also fired by South Carolina volunteers on the federally held Ft. Sumter.

As a Congressman, this neo-Confederate has sworn to protect the Constitution, but he criticizes as aggression the federal government’s attempts to protect it during the Civil War.

What is this guy doing in Congress? Maybe he needs to go back to his plantation.
