China Holds Relatives As Hostages To Complete Forced Sterilizations

Think China is ready to join the rest of the world and respect human rights?

Think again.

In southern China, the government has begun forced sterilizations of people who have disregarded its official one-child policy. In Puning, Guangdong Province, 9,559 men and women are targeted for the sterilizations.

Married couples who dared have two or three children had their relatives detained by officials until they agreed to sterilization.

Over 1,300 people were detained and forced to listen to lectures about the one-child policy. As many as 100 people were detained in one 2,150 sq. ft. center. They had only mats to lie on the ground.

Authorities claimed that Puning has created an imbalance in the Guangdong Province because so many people were having multiple children. However, Puning is a rural area, and, as with most farming communities, having multiple children has been a tradition since the dawn of civilization.

Chinese population policy allows for couples in rural areas to try for one more child if the first is a daughter.

Yes, the world is overpopulated, and China has more than its share. Nevertheless, holding relatives as hostages is plain wrong. Forced sterilizations are simply barbaric. Nevertheless, things are not going to change until the party hacks that pretend they are communists are booted out of power.
