Extramarital Sex Causes Earthquakes, Says Iranian Cleric

A top Iranian cleric has an answer for all the earthquakes and natural calamities striking the world recently – extramarital affairs.

“Many women who dress inappropriately … cause youths to go astray, taint their chastity and incite extramarital sex in society, which increases earthquakes…Calamities are the result of people’s deeds,” Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi said.

Let’s get right to the point, Sedighi. You think it is women wearing short skirts and tight pants to blame for most of the bad things in the world. Because of them, the poor male youths go “astray” and mar their “chastity.” If only women would wear a burqa, Sedighi must think, then the world would be a much happier and safer place.

Sedighi must be the Pat Robertson equivalent in Iran, but then knowing the ignorance that comes from the Iranian ruling clerics, they do not have only a Pat Robertson or two running around and spouting nonsense. The entire country is run by clerics the Muslim equivalent of Pat Robertson and the Westboro Church people out of Kansas. The only difference is that Robertson sees natural disasters as the result of a deal with Satan, as regarding Haiti. The Westboro people see homosexuality as the cause of every unpleasant thing that befalls the United States. In Sadighi’s eyes, short skirts are responsible for God’s wrath.

Instead of trying to explain everything through the Bible and Koran, someone needs to get these people a nice simple introduction to a geology book.
