Australia has some of the strictest anti-porn and anti-violence laws on the internet. For a country that is supposedly “free,” the Australian government monitors and censors thousands of websites.

That makes it highly ironic that Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s Twitter account is following numerous sex websites.

Anorak News reports that “a bare-breasted woman in handcuffs, an online adult superstore and a pornographic blog were among dozens of dodgy accounts followed by the Prime Minister.”

“Other profiles followed by the PM include a gay resort in Phuket, blogs offering sex shows via webcams and an online store selling adult goods.”

Here I thought Kevin Rudd was the prudish type. Instead it sounds like the Prime Minister knows all the hot sites. After all, someone has to monitor all that bad porn stuff so it does not infest the morals of the Australian people.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister, a very embarrassed spokesman, explained that Rudd has not been shopping for dildos or forking over dollars to watch sexy women on webcams during his off hours. Rudd’s Twitter account has an automated program that adds people to his account. Apparently someone did not set up the filters properly, and Rudd’s account has been steadily adding questionable sites to follow.

Nevertheless, this makes for a nice opportunity for some finger pointing at one of the internet’s great moral crusaders.
