Whitman’s Housekeeper to Make “Explosive Allegations”

It is hard to know if there is something to this or if it is just bluster.

California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman’s longtime housekeeper has hired Gloria Allred (who else?) for a possible lawsuit against Whitman.

Allred is holding a news conference to “to tell how she suffered as a long-time, Latina household employee in Meg Whitman’s home.”

Political? Of course, but isn’t everything in life.

It would look less suspicious if it was not so close to the election, but at least it is not a week before.

UPDATE: Meg Whitman’s hired help of 9 years, Nicandra Diaz-Santillan, used falsified documents to get her job with the Whitman household. She is an illegal alien and sought the help of Whitman in 2009 to clarify her status. Whitman appears to have tried to help by contacting her lawyer. According to the Whitman campaign, Whitman had Diaz fill out the required paperwork before she was hired and taxes were paid during her employment.

There really is not an “explosive” element to this incident, unless it is Whitman casting Diaz off after the incident and not reporting her to Homeland Security. Whitman will come out of this politically hurt, but in my book she looks more human. If you have an employee/friend for 9 years, and then turn her in for being in the country illegally, that might be the proper legal thing to do, but it would be heartless. Most people would do what Whitman did or even keep Diaz employed.

Now if she did not pay the taxes for Diaz, there might be more legs to this story.
