Randy Hopper, Family Man in 2008 Campaign Ad; Now Girlfriend’s Man

Here is a little bit more about Wisconsin State Senator Randy Hopper.

He first ran as a pro-job, pro-business candidate in 2008 for the Wisconsin State Senate. He is one of the Republican State Senators in Wisconsin who is facing recall and may lose. As the previous Foolocracy article reported, when protesters appeared at his home in Fond du Lac, his estranged wife came to the door and told the protesters that he now lives in Madison with his girlfriend. According to Hopper’s wife, he started an affair in January 2010 with a 25-year-old lobbyist. Hopper filed for divorce from his wife in August 2010.

What is interesting in the campaign ad posted below is that his wife and kids are plastered all over it. Think of the timeline. The ad was placed on YouTube on Oct. 17, 2008. His wife and kids appear as enthusiastic supporters for Hopper in the ad.

Fast forward and fifteen months later in January 2010, he is getting involved with a woman half his age. That is barely one quarter into his four-year term. The man is barely getting his feet wet as a state senator, and he is already chasing skirt.

Maybe he has problems with his wife. That is his business and his wife’s. The part that I find disturbing is his two young kids. If he is shacking up with his girlfriend in Madison, then he is not renting a place across town in Fond du Lac to see his kids or his constituents. It looks like the aptly named Randy Hopper needed to be a little more pro-family, like pro-father to his kids.

No wonder his wife is rumored to have signed his recall petition. She sacrifices to get him in Madison so that he gets a young girlfriend. Hopper is the John Edwards of the Wisconsin Republican Party.
