According to the Candidates, God Can’t Make Up His Mind on Who Should Be the Republican Presidential Nominee

With so many candidates, even God has a tough time making a choice

If we listen to the candidates for president, then God has made his selection on who He wants for the most powerful position in the world. Unfortunately, God is giving the voters multiple choices or else He is hedging His bets.

About half the Republican field has informed the world that God has instructed them to run.

Take Rep. Michele Bachmann. God has been nudging her on a political path since she started to run for Congress.

“God then called me to run for the United States Congress. And I thought, what in the world would that be for? And my husband said, “You need to do this.”

Bachmann said that she would do whatever God calls for her to do in politics.

“If I felt that’s what the Lord was calling me to do, I would do it,” she answered. “When I have sensed that the Lord is calling me to do something, I’ve said yes to it. But I will not seek a higher office if God is not calling me to do it. That’s really my standard.”

God has made that call, and Bachmann is ready to answer.

“Well, every decision that I make, I pray about, as does my husband, and I can tell you, yes, I’ve had that calling and that tugging on my heart that this is the right thing to do.”

It would seem that having anointed Bachmann as His candidate, at least according to Bachmann, God would not be sending out messages to other candidates. Unfortunately, God is looking like one of those campaign contributors who covers his bets by passing out donations to as many candidates as possible.

Herman Cain also claims to have received a message from God. During a low point, as he edged closer to running for president, Cain received a heart-warming message from his granddaughter. He immediately felt reenergized, crediting the message as a divine text from God.

“Do you know that had to be God?…I believe that God was speaking to me through my granddaughter. That this is something that I have got to at least explore and that’s what I am doing by the grace of God and with the strength of God.”

While God has not been speaking directly to Tim Pawlenty, or at least Pawlenty is not acknowledging it, it seems that God is instrumental in putting Pawlenty’s campaign staff together.

Former Republican Governors Association executive director Nick Ayers joined with Pawlenty as his campaign manager. Ayers explained how that came about.

“Over the past six months, I have prayed deeply about my purpose in life and how best to utilize the talents God has given me. I wanted my decision to be wholly about how best to serve Him, not what was most politically or financially expedient for my family and me. As He often does in walks of faith, He has called me to a higher purpose. I believe that our Nation is truly on the wrong path. We need a new direction that is positive and hopeful. Simply said, we need new leadership. I believe that Governor Pawlenty is best positioned to provide that leadership.”

God has called Ayers to a “higher purpose” which just happens to be pushing Pawlenty for president.

Back in 2010, Newt Gingrich announced what it would take for him to run for president: “That will be up to God, and the American people.”

Presumably, Gingrich’s announcement a few months ago to run for president must have had God’s blessing. According to Gingrich, he has already been “forgiven” by God for his multiple affairs for which he left his wives. Indeed, it looks like of all the candidates, Gingrich does have a very special relationship with God. One in which he can do whatever he wants and be forgiven.

“If you truly try to understand what God wants, and truly try to do what God wants, that has to impact how you behave,” Gingrich said.

The behave part excludes Gingrich, now on his third wife. after divorcing the first two during affairs.

Rick Santorum and his wife, Karen, have also invoked God. During an interview with CBN, Santorum agreed as Karen explained the process that came into their decision for the presidential run.

“It really boils down to God’s will. What is it that God wants? … We have prayed a lot about this decision, and we believe with all our hearts that this is what God wants.”

If these are all God’s candidates, some are not going to win. That means some are getting the thumbs up from God but are going down to a blazing defeat. However, that would not be the first time God has set up a candidate for defeat.

In 2008, Sarah Palin reported that her selection as John McCain’s vice presidential candidate was prearranged. “It’s God’s plan,” she said.

With Palin edging closer to a presidential run in 2012, it looks like she might be getting an update on that plan.

God seems to have been noticeably absent from three of the other major contenders for the nomination. Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul have not given any indication that their campaigns are divinely inspired. Interestingly, two of those three are Mormon. That is a touchy subject in some Republican circles. Either God has not endowed Romney and Huntsman with a blessing to run or they are not making an issue out of it because of their faith. Then again, the reason may be that they are not so full of themselves to believe God has anointed them as a modern-day political savior.

Oddly, the candidates who claim the strongest backing of God stumble the worst in the polls against Barack Obama. That raises the possibility that if God is calling for Bachman, Gingrich, Pawlenty, Santorum, Cain and possibly Palin to run for president, then maybe He is secretly an Obama supporter. Each of them would be creamed in 2012, God’s blessing or not.

I think this is PURE BLASPHEMY!!! If this country UPHELD Christianity (what this country was BUILT on) it would be a better place. WHO do you think you are presuming that people have not been led by the Lord??? WHO do you think you are to judge anyone? I PRAISE THESE PEOPLE FOR THEIR FAITH!! Yes, people make mistakes..and circumstances change so that we need to PRAY every day for guidance. You don’t get ONE message from God and then stop praying..you pray daily. Articles such as this is the reason many of our young people think it is okay to ridicule Believers! PRAISE GOD that you are a minority! GOD BLESS YOU…you surely need to be prayed for.

Debbie, not only are you directing your hell-fire at a man with the godly name of Church, but you are ignoring the fact that our republic was not built on Christianity. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison won’t be found in your bible, but they were a major force in creating the laws of our land in our Constitution. They called for a separation of church and state. However, they also believed in your right to believe in invisible friends and type in caps. If you do have a pipeline to the big guy, please pray that our next president takes his or her oath of office seriously and upholds our constitution. Maybe then, we will have a chance of getting out of our current mess created largely by those who ignore the constitution.
