No More 9/11 Attacks because Baseball Stadiums are Cathedrals

Last week’s Values Voter Summit had Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association address the conference. This was the same summit that Republican presidential candidates flocked to for support. There has been a lot of talk over morality and values that stemmed from the meeting, but no one matches Fischer for pure strangeness.

Fischer claims that there have not been any further attacks similar to 9/11 because people are singing “God Bless America” instead of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during seventh inning stretches.

It gets better. Fischer claims that “God Bless America” is really a prayer and that has transformed baseball stadiums into cathedrals.

These are the kind of people who are playing the role of kingmaker in the Republican Party. That helps explain Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann. There has been no word yet from the Pope, also known as baseball commissioner Bud Selig, on the newly enshrined houses of worship.

Count this one as a swing and a miss.
