Sheriff Joe Arpaio Angry that Republican Presidential Candidates “Hiding” Truth about Obama’s Eligibility

Arpaio with his thinking cap

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that his investigation into Barack Obama’s birth certificate “takes it to a different level, because we are a law enforcement agency. It gives it a little different type of credibility.”

Or lack of credibility. Since Arpaio has gone full birther, the investigative techniques of his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department must be questioned.

The evidence is overwhelming that Obama was born in Hawaii. Both Republican and Democratic appointees at the Hawaii Department of Health have confirmed that the original birth certificate is in their offices. Hawaii’s privacy laws prohibit these documents being made public except by the subject of those documents. Obama made public copies of the birth documents provided by the state of Hawaii in 2008 and again in 2011. Yet none of this satisfies the birthers.

No birther has ever provided any valid information suggesting that Obama’s mother was ever in Kenya at Obama’s birth. They throw out new questions for every answer and continue the issue as a merry-go-round while pretending to march forward to the truth.

It is disgraceful to American politics.

If there was a shred of truth to any of this, Hillary Clinton, John McCain or any of the current Republican presidential contenders would have run on it. None of them want to touch the subject because they know it has no legitimacy. Instead, Arpaio wonders out loud why he and a small minority of birthers are the only ones who can see a conspiracy.

“I’ve had presidential candidates visit me in my office. I’ve talked to every one of them,” Arpaio said. “I don’t see anybody talking about this. I don’t see any senators talking about it. … How come everybody’s hiding this?”

That is because Arpaio and the rest of the birthers have drunk the ideological Kool-Aid. It is no different than those who think the U.S. never went to the moon, that people are being abducted by the thousands by aliens or that dinosaurs roamed around the earth six thousand years ago. It takes a special mindset to believe in something that has no factual basis. It is particularly appalling that a famous law enforcement official like Arpaio is turning himself into a laughingstock. If he can’t figure out the truth from this, a burglary, a robbery or any other real crime is certainly beyond his grasp.

    hey glenn,
it is apparent to everyone reading your “story,” that you have not read any of the evidence presented by sheriff arpaio or his posse. if you had, you would see that the evidence is overwhelming. do us all a favor. before you spout off and show your ignorance, read the facts first. after you have completed your homework, then come back and posted a message.

    Paul,

I’ve read it. I’ve seen the press conference when it was presented. I’ve seen most of the evidence from the birthers. I do not find it any more convincing than the truthers. Can you give an explanation why Republicans and other of Obama’s opponents would want to keep him in power if this birther stuff was true? He would be taken down fast. But its not true, and we did walk on the moon too.
