While Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the Plumber,” might be good at fixing leaky faucets, he does not know a lick about history.
Wurzelbacher uses several examples of gun control to imply that government-instituted genocide would never have occurred if gun control did not exist. The kicker is the last example:
“In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others, unable to defend themselves, were exterminated.”
Any suggestion that the Holocaust could have been averted if guns were available to the Jews, Gypsies and others murdered by Hitler, is ludicrous. Most of the nations of Europe, with their armies, could not halt the German invasion and occupation of their countries. Arming the Holocaust victims with handguns and rifles might have empowered greater resistance, but the German state was far too powerful to be stopped by that.
Besides, neither Congress nor the President have it on their agenda to take guns away from the American people anymore that they plan to take wrenches away from plumbers. This ad is nothing more than a distraction from the real issues.

This is really interesting take on the concept. I never thought of it that way. I came across this site recently which I think it will be a great use of new ideas and informations. Thanks a lot…
