There are 1.2 million tax preparers in America today. That exceeds all the U.S. law enforcement officers and firefighters combined. While these tax preparers serve a great purpose in wading through the 72,000 pages of tax laws now in existence, their jobs are not productive in the sense of creating non-government products or services for the public. These are really pseudo-government jobs. Laws to keep the government funded have created them.
Don’t get me wrong. These are hard-working people who are filling a niche in the economy. They are needed under the current laws. As this video shows, the tax laws increased from 400 pages in 1913 to nearly 200 times larger today. That is a lot of productive time spent shuffling paper to keep money out of the hands of government.
The tax laws make the 2,000-plus pages of Obamacare look small.
