This is appalling. If Perry really thinks the battle over the separation of church and state is one that involves Satan, then it is easy to take his views to the next logical steps. If Perry thinks those who oppose his views are somehow aligned with Satan, then he is not too far away from the medieval ages, burning witches and torturing heretics.

He doesn’t specifically say that those who believe in separation of church and state are advocates of the devil, but take his comments in their whole and that is exactly what he is suggesting.

This puts Perry’s ideas a little too close to the ideology of the mullahs of Iran. They see Satan too, but in a different way from Perry. However, both would agree that secularists are doing the devil’s work.

If there is anything to give pause to a Perry presidency, this would have been it. Thankfully, his candidacy sank like a lead ball. It must have been Satan’s doing. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is what Perry secretly believes.
